Just a brief report on the Wales whitewater trip that took place a couple of weeks ago. This was very well attended with everyone meeting up at Rhayader on Saturday mid-morning to examine the river state. As the river level was very high, we decided to paddle down from Rhayader to Builth Wells. There were a few big wave trains to overcome in the fast flowing river, but overall, most obstacles were easily overcome without incident.
We all stayed over at Baskerville Hall, a popular stay for us given the good food, facilities and on-site bar!!!
Next day we decided to return to Rhayader and paddled the upper section, back down to Rhayader – the river level had dropped markedly which enabled the whole group to navigate this section more confidently. There were a couple of spills, but again a great day’s paddling ensued.
Many thanks to Kevin for organising, for the drivers and also for everyone for watching out and helping each other.
Below are a couple of videos made up from excerpts from several webcams that a few people were using on the trip
