For those joining us on this trip, here’s a brief outline of what’s being planned for the weekend (subject to changes depending on the weather).
Friday 1st May:
Approx. 12.30pm – 3.30pm some early paddlers will be travelling direct to Symonds Yat East for some fun on the rapids, before heading off to Lucksall Caravan & Camping Park to pitch up. Others may choose to travel direct to the camp, to relax, eat and drink.
(This rapid is ideal for your first experience on moving water)
Saturday 2nd May:
More arrivals expected in the morning.
Approx. 11.30am leave camp and head off to Hereford for a half day / afternoon paddle down the River Wye, finishing back at camp for hopefully some messing about on the river. (Note: A shuttle run is required). In the evening, maybe a group BBQ in camp. (Each to bring their own food)
Sunday 3rd May:
An early start, leave camp for Kerne Bridge, another section of the River Wye (shuttle run required) finishing at – Symonds Yat East (2-3 hour paddle), where you can have a play on the rapids or a swim in the river for those who choose. Suitable for the whole family: Forest Walks, Ice cream hut, bars and tea rooms are all available. In the evening, a ‘free for all’, Ross-on-Wye is good for takeaways and restaurants or if staying in camp more Bar-B-Q (or is that Q for the bar?)
Monday 4th May:
Pack up and leave camp. For any keen paddlers, we a propose one final return to Symonds Yat East, for either another play on the rapid or a light/gentle return paddle from Symonds Yat East to Symonds Yat West (approx. 30mins each way) where there is also a limited children’s family amusement park with attractions, e.g. hedge maze and butterfly park (for more information visit http://www.symondsyatleisure.co.uk/ http://www.mazes.co.uk/hedgepuzzlegallery.html) or alternatively for any walkers a possible foot climb (or drive) up to the Yat Rock where there is a forest coffee shop / benches and fantastic viewpoint (a view well worth seeing) , before finally heading off home.
Please note: Subject to change depending on group ability and weather.
If anyone requires any further information then please contact either Andy D. or Graham H.
We look forward to a fun Bank Holiday weekend!
