A group of us will be heading off to Lee Valley on the evening of Friday 10th July for some whitewater fun. Subject to the weather, we will grab a coffee and something to eat there afterwards – the cafe and decking area, at the top of the Olympic course, are a great place to relax and enjoy whiling away an hour or two.
If you just want to come along and watch, it is free – you can get really close to the action and watch others tackling (and sometimes failing to tackle) the grade 3 rapids. There are plenty of other things to do there too, such as cycling and walking along the canal.
Everyone is welcome, but if you want to paddle there you have to have passed your assessment; this has to be booked in advance with the centre.
We will be paddling from 7-8pm on the Legacy course, but you can turn up from 5pm when the Olympic course is likely to be running too. Please book early to guarantee your place on the whitewater course.
