Annual General Meeting

AGM announcement

The Club’s AGM will be held in January 2016 (date to be confirmed). As a result we are seeking nominations for next year’s Committee.

One key role is that of Welfare Officer – click here to view – as Dave Wright is standing down. If you feel you could do this job for the Club or know someone who you think is suitable please let the current Committee know.

Overall the job of sitting on the Committee is not generally too onerous, we meet once every 6-8 weeks with no set agenda apart from a review of the Club finances and membership applications – it’s just a general discussion about the business of the club at that time.

Both Paul and Pat Shearman have also indicated that they will not be standing for the Committee in 2016 so we do need additional volunteers to help out. All other members have declared themselves willing to stand.

So, please consider who you would like to be on the Committee for next year, talk to the person involved to see if they are willing to stand and let the current Committee know the name. If you just would like to volunteer yourself again let the Committee know and we will complete the nomination process.

Just a short note on the process – if there are more than 7 people nominated (and who are willing to stand) then an election is held with a simple majority counting as the deciding factor. You are elected to the Committee as a whole with the Chairman being selected at the AGM by those members present – this is the only specific position that is directly elected, all other positions are decided amongst the committee members themselves so people will get to fill a role that they are happy with undertaking.
