My name is Rebecca Harris and I have been a member of the Braintree Canoeing Club for 10 years. Most of you probably know my dad David who helps look after all of the club equipment.
I am currently at Bath Spa University studying environmental science, which is why I have not been around much lately but I am looking forward to correcting that this summer. Whilst there I have taken on a major challenge to climb to the top of Kilimanjaro in Africa (5895 metres or 19,341 feet) this August to raise funds for a charity called Dig Deep, whose aim is to provide clean water and sanitation for the rural communities of Kenya – something which we take for granted here every time we turn a tap on.
My aim to make this happen is to raise £2990, and I would really appreciate your support and any donations you can make, big or small, as it all adds up. I have a fund-raising page at the following link which allows you to make on-line donations – https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/rebeccaharris2. If you are a UK taxpayer please tick the gift aid box as this will result in more money going to the charity at no extra cost to you.
If you want to see what the charity gets up to in Kenya have a look at their website via the link – http://digdeep.org.uk
Thanks for taking the time to read this message and many thanks in advance for your support – I am aiming to set up a facebook page so you can follow my progress – details to follow.
Many thanks and happy paddling,
