White Water Safety and Rescue – 25th/26th February 2017

The committee are looking to support another White Water Safety Rescue training session – proposed date for the 2-day course is the weekend of 25/26 February.

Last year 6 club members attend this in North Wales (report is here: http://wp.me/p1ewa6-2NK)

In order to attend the training, you must be confident in your ability to paddle on grade 2 water, confident swimming in normal paddling clothing suitable for a moving water environment, and, for the benefit of the club, be willing to lead/support other paddlers on white water trips.

The course will cover such areas as:

  • Safe paddling strategies
  • Recovery of a swimmer
  • Shouting rescue
  • Reaching rescue
  • Throwline rescues
  • Boat based swimmer rescues
  • Live bait rescues
  • Knots
  • Entrapment rescues
  • Shallow water wading techniques
  • Recovery of equipment
  • Scenarios
