The committee are looking to support another White Water Safety Rescue training session – proposed date for the 2-day course is the weekend of 25/26 February.
Last year 6 club members attend this in North Wales (report is here: http://wp.me/p1ewa6-2NK)
In order to attend the training, you must be confident in your ability to paddle on grade 2 water, confident swimming in normal paddling clothing suitable for a moving water environment, and, for the benefit of the club, be willing to lead/support other paddlers on white water trips.
The course will cover such areas as:
- Safe paddling strategies
- Recovery of a swimmer
- Shouting rescue
- Reaching rescue
- Throwline rescues
- Boat based swimmer rescues
- Live bait rescues
- Entrapment rescues
- Shallow water wading techniques
- Recovery of equipment
