Four paddlers turned out on Sunday for a paddle from West Mersea to Osea Island. We paddled into a light westerly but with a good tide running. Conditions were overcast with some sunny breaks but this made it an atmospheric paddle. We landed on the best beach in the Blackwater which is on the end of Osea Island for a snack break and then set off to paddle round the Island. It was at this moment that Pete announced that the car park we were in would close at 8pm so we set a steady pace on the return journey, this was also when the wind that had been in our faces on the way down and would have helped us back dropped to nothing. We arrived back with just enough time to load and get out of the car park. A great paddle at a faster pace than normal.
Hope to be out again shortly but I’ll make it a shorter paddle at an easier pace!
