September 16 – September 17 2017
Location: River Stour
Saturday – Sudbury to Rushbanks Farm, Sunday – Rushbanks Farm to Catterwade.
This is a social paddle and overnight camp open to all club members. The River Stour is a gentle waterway so it is suitable for novice paddlers. There are several weirs along it’s route but portages are available, shooting the weirs is not recommended but the more experienced paddlers are free to to do so although it is best to check the water level first. A few of the weirs run through private property so please observe all the river signage.
Saturday 16th: we will put in at Quay Lane, Sudbury, CO10 2AN (follow the signs for Quay Theatre once in Sudbury) The launch point is next to the Stour Trust HQ. There is a free car park and we will sort a car shuttle once everyone is assembled.
Meeting time for Saturday 16th: 9.30am the distance to Rushbanks is approximately 12 miles and should take about 3.5 hours with portages, and if course we can stop and take a break regularly.
Arrival at Rushbanks Farm must be after 12midday. Once there we will set up camp and enjoy ourselves!
Sunday 17th: after breakfast we will break camp and relaunch, we need to be off The campsite by 12 midday. The plan is to paddle downriver to Catterwade but this is not set in stone. The choice of final destination is yours, again we will sort out car shuttles on the day.
The cost of camping is £15 per person or £22 for 2 adults in the same tent. You will need cash or cheque as there are no card facilities.

This is a basic plan at the moment, I will post further details nearer the date. Please note that if you are paddling with a child/ children you will need to sign a parental responsibility form. It goes without saying that as with all water activities you are expected to paddle safely and responsibly.
