Last weekend a number of Club Members were invited North by our Northern branch (Wayne and Josh) for a weekend on the river Tees. Whilst the river levels were on the low side we paddled the 10 miles from Middleton on Tees to Barnard Castle. This gave us a scenic paddle with some play spots in occasional sunny spells which highlighted the autumn colours. We then jumped in the cars and headed to Low Force to satisfy Tania’s request to practice her ‘Boof’ moves. A great days paddling.
Sunday was a sunnier day and as levels were low we headed for the River Washburn which is dam released. This provided a narrow fast running river with a number of play spots. It is only 2 miles long but the first run took 1 1/2 hours.
