FAQs
Do you offer "come and try it" sessions?
You must be a Club member to attend one of our sessions (required for insurance) See here for details We do however offer “Taster Sessions” but we require you to make contact with us prior to attending to ensure we have the necessary resource available to see you through a basic induction. The induction involves capsizing a kayak and demonstrating the required confidence to exit the kayak safely and calmly. You will be given instruction on how to do this.
What do I need to bring?
All equipment is provided, you just need a towel and your swimming costume (some people like to wear a t-shirt as well), although if you have your own kit you can bring it to the pool as long as it's clean.
I'm under 18, can I join?
U18s must have a parent or guardian join with them who is willing to attend pool sessions (you don't have to paddle although we'd encourage you to give it a try). For Club trips as long as there is a Club member willing to take responsibility then your parent doesn't have to be present but they must complete a Responsible Adult form.
My kids want to come, what age must they be?
Any age at all, as long as they are happy about being in the water and getting wet and can meet the swim pre-requisite - Every canoeing member should be able to swim in light clothing – this may be with the use of suitable Personal Flotation Device.
